Wolves track athletes place at state

TACOMA — Seven South Kitsap High athletes competed in the state track and field championship meet May 25-26 at Mount Tahoma High School.

Senior Nolan VanAmen completed his high school track career after gaining his fifth individual title in state competition.

Emily Riehl placed seventh in the high jump. Also placing seventh was another Emily — Emily Reeder — who competed in the shot put. Connor Morris took eighth in the 800-meter run.

The following Wolves athletes also took part in the championships meet: Paxton Depoe, 800-meter run; Deyondre Davis, 110-meter and 300-meter hurdles; Madison Easley, girls shot put; and Madison Jackson, javelin.

Lady Wolves fastpitch softball season ends

The South Kitsap fastpitch softball team came up short in their participation in the state tournament.

The Wolves lost 6-4 to Walla Walla and 11-9 to Rogers in tournament play.
