August 20, 2017

Sandy passed away at home in Port Orchard, Washington, where she resided for the past 45 years.

Sandy was born in Burns, Oregon to John Carlson and Lucille Luckey. Most of her growing up years were in Hood River, Oregon, graduating from Hood River High School in 1957. Always the life of the party, she was involved in many student groups, cheerleading and activities. Her infectious laugh and loving way drew everyone in and welcomed them whole heartily into her world.

Graduating from the University of Portland with a BS in nursing was one of her many pursuits. College brought her friends for life and a career that suited her well for many years. Later she finished graduate school with a MA in counseling that led her to acquiring a certification for domestic violence counseling. It was her passion to help families. Sandy was caring, compassionate and able to find the good in everyone. Her generous and giving spirit was her trademark.

Marvin Bruno, one of her graduate student instructors at University of Portland, swept her up with a short courtship, marriage, and 56 years together. They raised 5 children and have enjoyed 12 wonderful grandkids. She was a loving mom and grandma. We will all miss you so much!

Sandy loved the Lord and wanted to know Him with all her heart. She joined and led bible studies, traveled to conferences, and would listen to teaching tapes and worship music for hours. In her younger years, visited many places and countries but home was her most favorite place with family.
