Mary Isabell Kimball

July 10, 1930 – May 17, 2016

Mary Isabell “Izzy” (Jack) Kimball, passed away very peacefully on May 17, 2016 at her daughter’s home in Chewelah, Washington at the age of 85. She was born on July 10, 1930 in Lima, Ohio, the daughter of Mervin and Helen (Hartzell) Jack.

As a young girl, Izzy’s family lived in Texas for a time and later moved to Western Washington. Izzy graduated from Central Kitsap High School in 1948. She studied bookkeeping, short hand and typing, knowing she wasn’t going to college. She married Robert E. Kimball on Christmas Day 1948 at her parents’ farm at Claire’s Marsh. They made their first home in Tracyton.

Izzy worked at Kerr Motors in Bremerton for four years as a bookkeeper. Her next job was having three children in five years and being a bookkeeper for their own masonry business that they started. When her kids were teenagers, she worked as a legal secretary for a lawyer in Bremerton for two years. In the late 1960s, they purchased the old Mobile Oil property at Hostmark Street and Highway 305 in Poulsbo. They built “Ye Olde Fireplace Shoppe” which she managed and operated for almost 10 years.

Together, Izzy and Bob lived on their 63-foot boat “Ursa Major” for 10 years with numerous trips and stays in Alaska. They lived in Ketchikan for two of those years. They had a life full of people and adventure.

Izzy was a crossword puzzle enthusiast and also loved jewelry and “bling”. She learned to make glass beads with her son, Bob. She called her son, Bill, her “Buddy”. They would take off on excursions across the state or across town on errands and find all kinds of adventures.

Izzy moved to Chewelah, Washington in 2012 to live with her daughter, Chris. She lived there for the remainder of her life. She asked Jesus to be her Lord and Savior in 1948 and is now with Him and her husband, Bob. Izzy was a very caring and loving wife and mother. She will be greatly missed.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Bob Kimball Sr.; her parents; brothers, George Bollerslev and Dan Bollerslev.

Izzy is survived by her daughter, Chris Nash and husband, Earl of Chewelah; sons, Bill Kimball and wife, Anne, of Poulsbo, and Bob Kimball and wife, Sandy also of Poulsbo; brothers, Brian Jack of Ft. Worth, Texas and John Bollerslev of Edmonds, Washington; nine grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren.
