Gelder to talk transportation in Kingston

KINGSTON — Kitsap County Commissioner Rob Gelder will come to Kingston’s Village Green Community Center at 6:30 p.m. on Oct. 25 to talk about transportation.

Kingston is expecting a surge of traffic next summer with the implementation of a passenger-only ferry service to and from Seattle. This has local residents wondering how the town will manage the spike in commuters and traffic.

“This forum will assemble key agencies who oversee aspects of transportation infrastructure that supports the greater Kingston community,” Gelder said. “While this forum may not provide all the answers, it’s a great chance to exchange ideas and opportunities for moving forward.”

Conversation topics are expected to include possible improvements to ferry traffic management, Highway 104 rerouting, Complete Streets implementation and bus schedules.

Representatives from Kitsap County Public Works, Kitsap Transit, the state Department of Transportation and Washington State Ferries will address traffic safety, congestion, ferry service, current projects and ongoing planning. There will be opportunities for public comments and questions.
