Remains found near Neah Bay identified as missing 79-year-old Kitsap County man

NEAH BAY — The remains of a body found in the Strait of Juan de Fuca near Neah Bay have been identified as belonging to missing 79-year-old Kitsap County resident Stanley K. Okumoto.

Foul play is not suspected, but the cause and manner of Okumoto’s death could not be determined, Clallam County Prosecuting Attorney-Coroner Mark Nichols said Tuesday morning.

The remains were found in the Strait 4 miles east of Neah Bay on Nov. 8.

The King County Medical Examiner’s Office identified Okumoto through dental records, Nichols said.
