North Kitsap School District superintendent candidates will be interviewed Feb. 25

POULSBO — Six semifinalists for the position of North Kitsap School District superintendent will be interviewed by the school board from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Feb. 25 at the district offices, 18360 NE Caldart Ave., Poulsbo

The interviews will be open to the public and observers will be able to provide written feedback.

The new superintendent will succeed Patty Page, who is retiring at the end of the 2016-17 school year. Final selection of the superintendent is expected by March 23, according to district spokeswoman Jenn Markaryan.

The semifinalists are:

  • Martin Brewer, superintendent, Pioneer School District, Shelton.
  • Laurynn Evans, assistant head of school, Francis Parker School, San Diego, California.
  • Kurt Hilyard, superintendent, Union Gap School District, Union Gap.
  • Ray Houser, executive director of assessment and student services, Marysville School District.
  • Christine Maloney, chief academic officer, Puyallup School District.
  • Kelly Raymond, instructional leadership executive director, Highline Public Schools, Burien.

Candidate bios can be viewed at www.nkschools.org/our_district/board_of_directors/superintendent_search_process.

After the semifinalist round of interviews, the candidate field will be narrowed to three finalists. The finalists will be in the district March 6, 7 and 8 — one candidate each day — where they will have an opportunity to meet with staff and administrators.

“The community is invited to public forums held each evening to get to know the candidates, ask questions, and provide written feedback to the Board of Directors,” Markaryan reported. “The time and location of the forums will be announced soon.”
