If you have come into the library during the summer, not only have you realized how hot it gets in here, but you have seen how many families visit.

Before summer began, our youth services librarian, Whitney, visited four local schools and facilitated several school field trips to the library. Youth in Kingston have reported approximately 1,500 hours of reading during the first half of the summer. Here is what is happening in August:

Preschool Storytime: Aug. 4, 10:30 a.m.  Our last storytime of the summer.

Kingston Book Group: Aug. 6, 10 a.m.  Discussion will be on “Farm City: The Education of an Urban Farmer,” by Novella Carpenter.

After-Hours Teen Mystery: Aug. 6, 6:30 p.m.  Once the library is closed, the mystery unfolds! For ages 13-19. Preregistration required. Call 360-297-3330.

Summer of Learning Celebration: Aug. 11, 10:30 a.m. All summer readers and their families are invited to celebrate their summer reading success.

Kingston Writers Group: Aug. 12, 6:30 p.m.  Enjoy a friendly, supportive atmosphere to encourage writing.

Classics Book Group: Aug. 18, 6:30 p.m. Discussion will be on “The Expedition of Humphrey Clinker,” by Tobias Smollet.

Legos @ the Library: Aug. 21, 3-5 p.m. Enjoy special Lego build-it challenges and free-play. For children and tweens.

Adult Crafternoon: Aug. 28, 3-4 p.m. Bring your handwork projects and see our newest craft books.
