Driver dies after apparent medical emergency near Port Gamble

The cause of the incident is under investigation

A 49-year-old Port Townsened Woman died early Thursday morning after suffering what authorities believe to be a medical emergency while driving and crashed her vehicle into some brush near SR 104 and Port Gamble Road, according to a release from Washington State Patrol.

According to the memo, the vehicle was westbound on SR 104 just east of Port Gamble Road and it is believed the driver suffered a medical emergency and as a result, the vehicle crossed over the center line and left the roadway to the left before coming to rest in the brush.

It is unknown whether drugs or alcohol played a factor in the incident. The cause of the incident is under investigation.
