A tip from Virginia law enforcement led to the arrest by local authorities of a Port Orchard registered sex offender for having sex with animals.

Dwight A. Roemmich, 23, was charged on March 27 with one count of first-degree animal cruelty, in Kitsap County District Court. He is accused of engaging in sexual conduct with several animals, including a pig.

Kitsap County Sheriff’s deputies arrested Roemmich and charged him with one count of first-degree animal cruelty with sexual motivation March 26. He was booked into the Kitsap County Jail and bail was set at $100,000.

According to charging papers, the Fairfax County Police Child Exploration Unit in Virginia contacted the Kitsap County Sheriff’s Office on March 3 after they reviewed Internet advertisements posted for bestiality by a person in Port Orchard. Detectives found 13 images and a video posted online allegedly by the suspect.

The following charges were filed in Kitsap County District court from March 25-31:

• March 30: Wyatt Trevor Goodacre, 32, Port Orchard, fourth-degree assault; Rex John Coon, 53, Port Orchard, harassment (gross misdemeanor); Robert Lee Cargile, Jr., 43, Port Orchard, fourth-degree assault; Axel Edward McCarroll, 37, Port Orchard, residential burglary; Robert Oden Bowen, 50, Port Orchard, second-degree burglary.

• March 26: Wayne Thomas Shattan, 31, Belfair, possession of a methamphetamine.

• March 25: Joseph Arnold Mohr, 56, Belfair, driving under the influence.
