Regional Fire Authority Planning Committee special meeting:
A special meeting of the Regional Fire Authority Planning Committee is scheduled for 9 a.m. Wednesday, April 27 at Bremerton Fire Station No. 1, 911 Park Ave., Bremerton.
Bremerton City Council members assigned to serve on the committee are Nick Wofford, Cecil McConnell and Jim McDonald. Bremerton Fire Department Chief Al Duke and Assistant City Attorney Ken Bagwell are also committee members.
Kitsap Conservation Voters forum with county commissioners:
Kitsap Conservation Voters will host its annual Meet Your Kitsap County Commissioners Forum from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, May 25 at the Island Lake Community Center, 1087 NW Island Lake Road, Poulsbo.This will be Commissioner Rob Gelder’s first Kitsap Conservation Voters forum as a county commissioner. The forum is free and open to the public. Residents will be able to address questions to commissioners regarding their actions, policies and plans on environmental issues including points about shorelines and urban growth areas.
Bremerton District 3 community meeting:
Bremerton City Council Member Adam Brockus will host the next district 3 community meeting from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, April 26 at the Bremerton Senior Center, 1140 Nipsic Ave., Bremerton. The possibility of building a park at 17th Street and Ironsides Avenue will be discussed, including ideas for designing and financing the park. All city residents are invited to attend.
Japan Friendship Benefit in East Bremerton:
The Kitsap Unitarian Universalist Fellowship will host an afternoon of Japanese dance, music, food and art from 2:30 to 5 p.m. Sunday, May 1 to benefit Japan disaster relief. The fellowship is located at 4418 Perry Ave. NE, Bremerton. The event is open to the public. Suggested donation is $10 per person or $15 per family.
Bremerton fundraiser to benefit Red Cross efforts in Japan:
A fundraiser to benefit American Red Cross relief efforts in Japan will be hosted by Cascades of Bremerton, a continuing care retirement campus at 3201 Pine Road in Bremerton, on Saturday, April 30. The event will include entertainment, a silent auction from noon to 2:30 p.m and a Japanese cuisine buffet. A suggested donation for the buffet is $15. RSVP at (360) 479-8522 as seating is limited.

The Bremerton City Council’s Public Works Committee meeting is scheduled for 10 a.m. Tuesday, May 10 in the Council Conference Room on the sixth floor of the Norm Dicks Government Center, 345 Sixth Street, Bremerton. Council members assigned to serve on this committee are Jim McDonald, Carol Arends, Dianne Robinson and Nick Wofford.
AARP driver safety class in Bremerton:
Bay Pointe Retirement Community in Bremerton will sponsor an AARP driver safety class from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. May 3 and 4. This is a refresher course for those age 50 and older. Most insurance companies offer a discount to those who complete the course. It is open to the public and the cost is $12 for AARP members and $14 for non-members. Norwegian genealogy seminar in Bremerton:
A genealogy seminar and workshop, “I am Norsk” is scheduled from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. May 7 at Bremerton’s Oslo Lodge, 1018 18th Street. The day will include learning about Norway and researching ancestry. There will be three speakers including Kristine Leander, a northwest author, Jody Grage, “the Bunad Lady” and Deanna Egeland Dowell, who will review shortcuts to Norwegian family history.A notebook will be provided for each individual and there will be translators, computer assistance and knowledgeable genealogists present. Easter musical at Crossroads Neighborhood Church:
Crossroads Neighborhood Church will present “The Choice,” a musical for Easter at 7:30 p.m. April 22 and 23 at the church, 7555 Old Military Road, Bremerton. Admission is by donation and half of the proceeds will benefit Coffee Oasis for homeless teens.
Dance for a chance in Kitsap:
Dance studios and troupes across the county will unite in a performance April 29 at the North Kitsap Theater to benefit Coffee Oasis’ support for local homeless youth. The show begins at 7 p.m. with the doors opening two hours prior. Admission is by donation.
Seattle Opera preview at Sylvan Way library:

The Spring Talent Show at Klahowya Secondary School is scheduled from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. April 29 in the school’s auditorium.
