Tour the gardens of Hansville as the fun continues | Hansville Happenings

Did you go to the Ladies Aid Dinner Dance? The theme was “A Garden Party” and when you entered the door of the Hansville Community Center, you entered into a garden through a white picket fence and through an arbor over the entrance.

Did you go to the Ladies Aid Dinner Dance? The theme was “A Garden Party” and when you entered the door of the Hansville Community Center, you entered into a garden through a white picket fence and through an arbor over the entrance.

Fresh flowers were everywhere, setting the scene for a lovely evening of good food, good friends and good music offered by the Bruce Cosacchi Trio.

And now, the lovely ladies that belong to this Hansville Ladies Aid are offering a Garden Tour. Every year on the last Saturday in July the public is invited to tour several landscaped yards and … well, gardens. One ticket, for $10, will get you directions and entrance to any or all of them. Tickets are available from any Ladies Aid member, from the Hansville Store and from Dragonfly Farm and Nursery.

This year, there are six individual families offering to show you their beautiful plants and trees and yards:
— “Bumblewood” is named this because they imported special bees and have provided them with special plants for them that will make the bees flourish.
— “Gazebo By the Bay” is located on Admiralty Inlet. A wonderful view and a lovely garden all in one stop.
— “Maple Madness” has several different kinds of maple trees, all of varied colors (but you’ll have to ask them if they tap any for maple sap to make syrup.)
— “Park-like Setting” is just that … a lovely stretch of green grass with various flowerbeds and even a shade garden that will lead you to the wooded area behind it.
— “Green Gable Inn” is surrounded by a white picket fence and you’ll notice the lovely home surrounded by the many flowers and plantings.
— “My Family and Friends Garden” is named this because so many of the plants and flower starts came from family and friends.

One last note about this special tour of beauty. Heidi at Dragonfly Farms and Nursery (34881 Hansville Road NE) will also have tickets and will be offering a Garden Festival on this same day. This event will be complete with prizes, special prices and fun for everyone.

Don’t forget, the annual Hansville Rummage Sale is on Aug. 10-11. It’s just around the corner and well worth a look-see. You never know what treasure you’ll go home with, and at a wonderful bargain.

The fun never stops here in Hansville.
