2015 Miss Poulsbo, Miss Kitsap, Miss Silverdale crowned | Kitsap Week

Three young women from Kitsap were selected to represent their communities for 2015 at the annual Miss Poulsbo Miss Kitsap Miss Silverdale Scholarship Pageant, Jan. 10 at Bremerton High School.

BREMERTON — They came, they saw, they were crowned.

Three young women from Kitsap were selected to represent their communities for 2015 at the annual Miss Poulsbo Miss Kitsap Miss Silverdale Scholarship Pageant, Jan. 10 at Bremerton High School.

Nicole Lacey is the 62nd Miss Poulsbo. The 17-year-old is a senior at Olympic High School. Lacey received $3,000 in scholarships as well as $200 for the Ardis Morrow Service Award. She also received a $1,000 scholarship to Olympic College.

Lacey will spend the upcoming year representing Poulsbo at area events. She competed in the pageant on the platform of anti-bullying, a cause she plans to address during her time as Miss Poulsbo.

Madison Phelps, a 17-year-old senior at North Kitsap High School, was runner up for the Miss Poulsbo title. She received $500 in scholarships. Phelps’s platform was the “Trevor Project: Preventing Suicide in the LGBTQ Community.”

The 2015 Miss Kitsap title went to Sabrina Tucker, an 18-year-old freshman at Olympic College. Tucker received $3,000 in scholarships, and $200 for winning the Miss Congeniality Award and the Living Platform Award. Tucker also took home the Promise for Tomorrow Award with a $1,000 scholarship.

Tucker has been working with the Naval Avenue Boys and Girls Club over the past year. Her platform was in support of the Boys and Girls Club: Great Futures Start Here.

Abigail Shedd, a 16-year-old Running Start student at Olympic College, was runner-up for the Miss Kitsap title and received $500 in scholarship money. Her platform was “Give a Note: Promoting Music Education.”

Madison Gilmore, an 18-year-old at Central Kitsap High School, was crowned the sixth Miss Silverdale. She received $3,000 in scholarship money and $200 for the Girl Power! Workshop Award. Gilmore also got $1,000 scholarship to Olympic College. Gilmore competed on a platform of mentoring youth.

Sydney Holcomb, an 18-year-old senior at Olympic High School, was first runner-up for Miss Silverdale. Holcomb received $1,100 in scholarships. Her platform was suicide prevention.

More than $21,000 in scholarship money was awarded across the 21 contestants of the pageant. The pageant began with the raising of the Seahawks 12th Man flag as 2014 Miss Poulsbo Emily Ward and 2014 Miss Kitsap Charlyn Garcia threw footballs and candy into the audience. The score of the Seahawks-Panthers game was announced throughout the night, and the team’s victory was announced during the pageant’s intermission.
