Nothing new at candidates forum

I attended the candidate forum in Poulsbo put on by the League of Women Voters. By the end, it was pretty obvious that only questions deemed personal to the moderator were being asked, with one or two exceptions.

I submitted seven questions. The moderator only asked one of them. Even then, she skewed the question to how she wanted to ask it so it wasn’t even a relevant question anymore. Toward the end of the County Commission candidates segment, the moderator said, “We’ve run out of questions” so we’ll end that portion early. People could have stayed at home and read the papers’ articles about the candidates again. There wasn’t anything new asked at the forum that hasn’t already been printed.

League of Women Voters: Don’t waste the voting public’s time claiming that you want our input and to please attend your forums to ask our questions. The same generalized five or so questions, which don’t have a possible definitive answer, is just proof that the local-level questions asked are just as lame, politically, as the ones asked in the presidential debates. (And you wonder why people are so apathetic about politics).
